Empowering through Education

Project HEAL partners with an existing organization in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, named Love for the Children Ethiopia to provide financial and collaborative support for Love for the Children Academy. The academy opened its doors to 79 students in September, 2016. 213 students are enrolled at LFCA as of January, 2022. In addition to providing financial support, Project HEAL provides goods and services, including daily meals, backpacks and school supplies as well health care services on an as needed basis.

Many children in Ethiopia go days without eating. The academy provides two meals a day Monday through Friday for our children, as well as clean drinking water. Our focus is to offer a well balanced, nutritious diet so that the children have the energy and ability to focus in the classroom.

Establishing a school in Chacha was intentional; as it is known to be home to the poorest of the poor in the region. Unfortunately, parents are unable to send their children to the local public school because of the high cost of school supplies and uniforms each year. Left with no options, children remain uneducated at home while their parents are out seeking work. As they become of age, they will begin looking for daily work, contributing further the cycle of poverty.
